One Deck Galaxy on the horizon - 1001 Odysseys now on Kickstarter!
about 5 years ago – Tue, Jan 29, 2019 at 10:40:53 PM

Our next entry in the One Deck series, One Deck Galaxy, is targeted for Kickstarter this spring.

One Deck Galaxy tells the story of fledgling space-faring civlizations coming together to form a stable Federation. Your opposition in the game is an Adversary, similar to a boss/dungeon in ODD. They, combined with the alien race you choose, bring variety to each play of the game.

But where are the humans? Well, at this point in history, we're busy doing boring Earth things. We haven't even visited the Moon yet! All of these aliens reside in a corner of the galaxy known as Insula, which we stumble across in the 22nd century. The story of humanity's first deep-space-adventure is told in our branching-narrative-story board game, 1001 Odysseys, now on Kickstarter.

1001 Odysseys is a co-operative adventure for you and your friends, with hundreds of pages of storybits to experience. The rules are very simple: Combine a mission, an action, and a location to look up the next thing that happens in the story. No dice (sorry!) or complicated set up procedures -- just good, whimsical, space adventure fun.

Maybe by the time the humans get to Insula, the Neeble-Woobers won't even be villains anymore!

Plastic Card Shipping
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Jun 26, 2018 at 12:27:22 AM

A quick update for everyone!

Replacement plastic cards are shipping out to all plastic-backers. Many have gone out already, all should be on the way by mid-week.

Plastic Card Samples + Replacement Mailing
almost 6 years ago – Fri, May 25, 2018 at 09:35:11 PM

Samples have arrived from the factory, and I've got a short video showing how they look:

(There's some sneaky One Deck Galaxy stuff on the whiteboard too!)

Long story short: They're acceptable, and we'll be mailing them out once all the sheets are cut and assembled/shrunkwrap/etc. This will be happening sometime in mid to late June, and I hope to have a firmer date before long.

If your address has changed from what you entered in to BackerKit for original KS fulfillment, we'll need to update it so that we can get replacements to you.

The form for address updates is here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScWG8wAAsfDDxQGmbpxN2NMJ60K3HOL2XFruyY-wCn8YS2H2A/viewform?usp=sf_link

If there is any doubt as to whether you need to update your address, fill out the form above. If you send us your address again now, and it's already set correctly, we don't mind :)

If you backed or pre-ordered for any plastic level, you will receive replacement plastic cards. If you are outside the US, we will be shipping them directly from here rather than using GamesQuest as a hub. If you get charged VAT or fees and need a refund for them, let me know in a private message and we'll get that taken care of.

We have printed some extra copies, and if there are leftovers after fulfilling all replacements, we'll be selling them to people interested in upgrading to plastic. That'll happen in July.

Artifact Quests: The Beginning
about 6 years ago – Fri, Apr 13, 2018 at 10:33:50 PM

The Artifact Quests website is live:

http://onedeckdungeon.com/story/

At launch, the first Artifact has been unlocked: The Jewel of Truth. Each contains memories of different varieties - we'll be revealing the remaining artifacts throughout the Spring.

Rules

Artifact Quests are a special game mode that adds some new variety / difficulty to One Deck Dungeon, with the bonus of exploring the world's lore. One Deck Dungeon or One Deck Dungeon: Forest of Shadows is required to play, but no additional components are necessary.

To begin an Artifact Quest, choose one of the artifacts from the main page. Each artifact has a brief introduction, followed by the first chapter of the story it will reveal. At the end of each chapter, you will be shown a quest which you must complete to proceed. The quest will specify a specific change you must make to the normal game rules, which will most often make things more challenging. Once you succeed at the quest, you can proceed to the next chapter. If you fail, try again!

You may use any hero for an Artifact Quest, unless it states otherwise. You can use (and will typically want to!) a hero with campaign-sheet progression. The final chapter of each Artifact Quest can be quite difficult!

Playing an Artifact Quest with 2 heroes works the same as with 1. If you play with 4 heroes, double the effect for the quest (ex: Exile 4 black dice instead of 2).

Artifact effects are not cumulative - only apply the current artifact level's effect.

Artifact Quests will be added to the digital version of One Deck Dungeon at a later date.

Plastic Reprint Update, International Shipping, and Artifact Quests (Story Mode!)
about 6 years ago – Wed, Apr 11, 2018 at 01:11:11 AM

Plastic Reprint

Not much I can say to sugarcoat it: the factory reprinted the plastic cards and their quality was completely unacceptable. I rejected them, and they are having another printer run the cards. I don't have a timeline yet, but hopefully it proceeds quickly. I'll update as soon as I have news on it.

In better news, we will be starting up Artifact Quests this Friday at 1PM! Artifact Quests is the culmination of our "Story Mode" ideas, and feature new challenges to pit your heroes against. Each dark artifact holds stories that you can unlock by bringing it deep into a dungeon and defeating a boss. Carrying it is a burden, however, and each artifact will make your adventure more difficult in different ways!

If you're successful, you unlock the next part of the story, and the next power level of the artifact. We'll be unlocking artifacts gradually over time, starting with the Jewel of Truth this Friday. We'll post a KS update with the link when it goes live.

International Backers

By now, everyone definitely should have received their pledges. We've received some reports of trouble getting GamesQuest to engage with customer service requests.

If you have not received your game yet, put in a replacement request at asmadigames.com/replacements and we will send it along.

If you're waiting on plastic cards, there's nothing we can do until the factory steps up and finishes the process of acquiring the corrected cards.
